1. Trendy Nightlife

When the sun sets, Atlanta transforms into a nightlife paradise. There’s always something fun and exciting going. Whether you’re into dancing, great food or just want to kick-back and relax with friends, Atlanta is the ultimate melting pot of fun. Many visitors’ journeys begin in Downtown Atlanta, where there’s popular nightclubs, as well as some of the best dining options around. Or choose between the laid-back vibes of Virginia Highland, the chic style in Buckhead or a trendy scene in Midtown. No matter what style of nightlife you’re craving, you’re sure to find it in Atlanta!

2. Urban Meets Nature

Atlanta has a ton of parks and natural attractions right in its downtown area. Piedmont Park being the best example, the area has done a suburb job of maintaining the natural element while the city grows. No matter your interests, Atlanta’s many parks can meet them, as along with their natural beauty many events, from musical entertainment to fitness programs, regularly occur in the parks.

3. History

Atlanta is one of the South’s most historic city’s. From Civil War Memorials, to old 19th century architecture, the city is a historian’s dream. That’s why developers are taking pains to preserve that heritage while giving historical–but dilapidated–buildings new identities in the modern age. Ponce City Market is a prime example of this, as is the Masquerade, a popular indoor-outdoor music venue that occupies the old Dupre Excelsior Mill complex. Get a taste of what the neighborhood looked like before gentrification began in full force by touring any one of the area’s many Historic Districts.

4. Downtown

Downtown Atlanta has recently undergone a massive revitalization that included the construction of new condos and lofts, renovation of historic buildings, and the arrival of new residents and businesses. The area contains some of the most dense city blocks in the entire country, with the Bank of America Plaza as the centerpiece at over a thousand feet. Along with the urban sprawl, this area is home to great parks, as well as the popular Centennial Olympic Park (the home of Philips Arena and the Georgia Aquarium).

5. Ponce City Market

Housed in the former Sears, Roebuck & Company building, this mixed-use development is poised to become the city’s next hot spot for eating, shopping, working, and living. Modeled after Chelsea Market in New York City, Ponce City Market has already lined up top-shelf retail and restaurants to fill the massive space. This trendy market area has amenities for everyone!

6. The Atlanta BeltLine

It started with a Georgia Tech graduate student’s proposal to transform outmoded railroad tracks line into a walking and cycling path through Atlanta. Now, the BeltLine is becoming a reality. The most commonly used section is the Eastside Trail between Piedmont Park and Irwin Street, which goes past Ponce City Market. This area is home to frequent art installations, as well as restaurants with open-air seating.

7. Southern Brunch

Sunday brunch is one of the things at which the South excels, and there’s no city that does it better than Atlanta! Head to Parish or Two Urban Licks or really any place that serves breakfast, and you’ll find a delicious place where you can stuff your face with eggs Benedict or southern-style biscuits or Country Chicken and Waffles or Golden Grits Casserole or, well you get the point. Highland Bakery is one of the most popular places to-go, with French toast as big as your head and some of the best biscuits in town.

8. Street Art

9. Local Markets

Every weekend, dozens of neighborhood markets setup shop across the city. A couple examples include the Sweet Auburn Curb Market, the Freedom Farmers Market, the East Atlanta Village Farmers Market and the Morningside Farmer’s Market. These vibrant, usually weekend events, bring together farmers, craftsman and other unique hobbyists together for an eclectic mix of food, commerce and fun.10. Transportation

The MARTA rail line is a great way to get-around this ever-expanding city. From the airport, you can ride downtown in approximately 20 minutes, plus you can go directly to Midtown in around 25 minutes, Buckhead in 35 mins, and the Perimeter Mall area in just under 40 minutes. This mass transit system, along with the Beltline and tremendous amount of highways around the city make commuting very simple and easy.
